"From the favorite for rapper of the year until a week ago," well, people are convincing themselves that the Kendrick album has a higher great-to-groaner ratio than Glorilla, but I'm pretty sure they're wrong! GNX is more like Ehhthang than Glorilla, in that it's fun in a mostly blockheaded way. Southern rappers just seem to be working in an idiom that critics struggle to recognize as great (see, um, Xgau's unsigned "dud" review of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik) until it's undeniable.
Anyway, like you, I think I fully embraced this album with the Kirk Franklin song. There's a lot of variety here!
My only current complaint about GNX is that the guest LA rappers sound very much Bronny level, but we'll see if I get sick of the album otherwise by Dec 29th
This one's gonna cost me--and I like it like that!
Hi Brad, surprised you didn't pick 'Sure as the Sun'. I think that one stands tall.
Happy holidays to you and Jen.
It's a good song (they're all good songs)! Compliments of the season to you and yours.
